I wanted to ask everyone to be praying for Kevin's grandma this weekend.
She's back in the hospital with an infection from complications related to a fall she took, coupled with several other ailments to her liver and other internal organs. She's not doing well and is currently refusing treatment.
You might remember her as being the sparky older lady who spoke at his rehearsal dinner before his wedding about how she taught Kevin everything he knows when he'd come home from school to her house and eat Peanut Butter sandwiches-- so the way I see it, we all have a debt of gratitude to pay to her, as Kevin's taught us pretty much everything WE know about life, wisdom, women, the Bible... you get the picture.
1.) Pray that Kevin and Whitney would be an encouragement to his grandmother and that she would have a renewed sense of purpose in life, namely that she'd fight for the life that is left for her to live.
2.) Pray for Kev's family, especially his father (her son) and that they'd grow as a family through this time of healing and restoration of his mother.
3.) Pray for their faith to grow in this time and that God would be teaching them whatever lessons He has for them concerning their specific roles in the kingdom now and whatever other purposes He has for them in the future.
4.) On a slightly different note, pray for the bevy of Whoppa-activities going on in Harrisonburg this weekend:
* Wheeler visiting his girlie, Lindsey Forbes.
* Gordon, who lives in H-burg with his wife, Sarah Beth.
* Josh Nicoletti is going to take a lovely young Narnian lady on a date this weekend!
You have to call him to ask her name-- I honestly can't remember...oops.
Thanks, Whoppaheads. I love you guys!
Whoppahead. I did not see this till after the weekend. Thanks for prayers. ALso change your notifications on blogger for whoppaheads so we get your info.
ReplyDeleteKev. Can you give us an update on Grandma.
Ps. First date was fun!
Hey fellas,
ReplyDeleteMy grandma lost her battle with liver disease yesterday morning. She had been struggling to recover from many implications to several internal organs over the past month. When she discovered that there was no way to recover she opted out of receiving any medication or treatment. For the last 3 weeks she had been in hospice care at a nursing home. She was never in any pain or discomfort but without medication her internal organs began shutting down fast. She pasted away in a very peaceful manner when the nurse caring for her read her psalms 23 and some first in John (my mom and dad were not sure which one). After the verses were read to her, she shut her eyes and joined her Father in heaven.
My family is doing pretty well. My granddad was having a very hard time the last couple of days leading up to her death, but yesterday and today he is doing ok. My dad is sad but doesn't have much to say (Go figure). I am doing pretty well. I was very close to her and I am very sad, but I am also at peace with her death. I have been able to talk a lot with my granddad and I also had some great conversations with my grandma before she passed. So, I would ask for your prayers for my family, especially my granddad. Just that he would remain strong and realize God still has purpose for him in this life. He has asked many questions about God and I think he is learning a lot about God. So also pray for me as I have more conversations with him and my family.
Thanks brothers and keep on keepin on.
Kev
We'll be praying bro. Praise the Lord for his Son overcoming death. You and your family will be on our minds and hearts today. Love you brother.
ReplyDeleteKevin, you're grandmother was an incredible woman. In a lot of ways you reflect her crazy antics and extreme generosity in a way that only God could orchestrate. I know that she was a major influence in your life and I think that you are a part of a living tribute to her because of how you have grown to be a mighty man of God. Never forget how much she loved you and was so proud to call her your grandson (even if she did call you fat at your rehearsal dinner).
ReplyDeleteI know I speak for everyone on this blog when I say that we are proud of you and we love you, brother.
Kevin, We're all behind you, your grandpa, your dad, and your entire family this week.
ReplyDeletePraying for yall, Kevin. You are a powerful leader in your family.
