Prayer for Laurie

Hey Whoppaheads,

Can y'all pray for Laurie? She's got a brutal, cancerous brain tumor and is not likely to survive the week unless some experimental radiation treatments and steroids eradicate the tumor.

Pray for:
*Effectiveness in the treatment: no swelling in the brain, killing the tumor, and quick recovery
*For creativity from the dr.'s to know how to treat Laurie
* For God's peace to permeate Laurie and her family (three daughters and husband) throughout this process

Praying Psalm 146:6-10 has helped me fortify my heart the last few days: I figured I'd end by sharing it:

Psalm 146:6-10English Standard Version (ESV)

who made heaven and earth,
    the sea, and all that is in them,
who keeps faith forever;
    who executes justice for the oppressed,
    who gives food to the hungry.
The Lord sets the prisoners free;
    the Lord opens the eyes of the blind.
The Lord lifts up those who are bowed down;
    the Lord loves the righteous.
The Lord watches over the sojourners;
    he upholds the widow and the fatherless,
    but the way of the wicked he brings to ruin.
10 The Lord will reign forever,
    your God, O Zion, to all generations.
Praise the Lord!

Love forever,
Ryan

Spurgeon's invitation to worship

"Oh, there is, in contemplating Christ, a balm for every wound; in musing on the Father, there is a quietus for every grief; and in the influence of the Holy Ghost, there is a balsam for every sore. Would you lose your sorrow? Would you drown your cares? Then go, plunge yourself in the Godhead's deepest sea; be lost in his immensity; and you shall come forth as from a couch of rest, refreshed and invigorated. I know nothing which can so comfort the soul; so calm the swelling billows of sorrow and grief; so speak peace to the winds of trial, as a devote musing on the subject of the Godhead."

- 20 year-old Charles Spurgeon, 1855, inviting his parishioners to worship.

Praying for each of you tonight, brothers, to know Christ and the power of his resurrection (Philippians 3:10)!
